Introduction to Careers in Government and Public Administration (Credit: 0.50)Introduction to Careers in Government and Public Administration is a semester-long Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective for students who are interested in seeking a range of positions with government or non-profit agencies. The introductory course in American politics and public administration helps students in grades 9-12 explore a variety of public sector functions, including general government, health administration, foreign service, homeland security, law enforcement, transportation and infrastructure, campaign consulting, and procurement.
National Security Careers (Credit: 0.50)Part of the Government and Public Administration career cluster, this Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective provides students in grades 9-12 with a broad understanding of national security careers in the United States. Topics of discussion include the history of American national security, theories and laws that form the basis of national security, the armed forces, the intelligence community, the role of law enforcement, bureaucratic agencies, legislative and executive responsibilities, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and career paths in the field of national security.
