Intro to Careers in Education and Training (Credit: 0.50)Introduction to Careers in Education and Training helps students understand the purpose of education and instills within them an appreciation for the skills educators possess. Throughout this semester-long Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective, students in grades 9-12 learn how communication skills, group collaboration, and critical thinking influence learning. Students also study the organizational and group management skills necessary for working with individuals of various ages and cultures. Other topics of study include state-specific professional development requirements and health and safety requirements, as well as legal and ethical issues within and outside education.
Teaching and Training Careers (Credit: 0.50)Part of the Education and Teaching career cluster, this Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective introduces students in grades 9-12 to the fundamental foundations of teaching and training. The semester-long course provides effective strategies for conveying new information and knowledge to students and employees. Additionally, the course covers topics including how to construct learning opportunities for students or trainees, how to determine the effectiveness of content and teaching styles, and how to manage the instructional environment.
