Construction Careers (Credit: 0.50)

Help your students explore careers in construction with this semester-long Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective for grades 9-12. While studying the fundamentals of building technology, students examine the design and construction of structures that are intelligent, efficient, and provide comfort to the user while causing limited impact to the environment. The course examines both traditional and contemporary construction materials and methods, while prompting students to use critical reasoning skills as they select appropriate materials and methods of manufacture, assembly, and demolition.

Intro to Careers in Architecture and Construction (Credit: 0.50)

Designed to give students an overview of careers in architecture and construction, this introductory Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective is a member of the Architecture and Construction career cluster which provides students in grades 9-12 with a look at designing, planning, managing, building, and maintaining “the built environment,” which encompasses all zones of human activity ranging from natural conservation areas with minimal human intervention to highly dense areas with tall skyscrapers and intricate highway systems. Throughout the semester-long course, students discover that the interrelated components that make up the built environment are as varied and unique as the professionals who help shape it.
