Business Law (Credit: 0.50)An online career course designed for students in grades 10-12, Business Law provides students with an understanding of the vital legal concepts that affect commerce and trade. After learning how laws are created and interpreted, students spend the semester-long course exploring both the different types of businesses that can be created to engage in commerce and the contractual and liability considerations that can impact businesses.
Career Management (Credit: 0.50)Help students at your Christian school prepare to select a career and enter the workforce with Ignitia’s Career Management course. Designed for students in grades 11 and 12, Career Management helps students improve important career skills that apply to a variety of occupations. Specific skills that are refined during the semester-long course include communication, leadership, decision making, problem solving, goal setting, and time management skills.
Office 2013 Applications 1 (Credit: 0.50)ffice Applications I is a semester-length, high school elective that explores the use of application skills in Microsoft® Word®, Publisher®, and PowerPoint® 2013. Students will use these applications to design, develop, create, edit, and share business documents, publications, and presentations.
Office 2013 Applications 2 (Credit: 0.50)Office 2013 Applications II is a semester-length, high school elective course that explores the use of application skills in the 2013 versions of Microsoft® Excel® and Microsoft® Access®. Students will use these applications to design, develop, create, edit, and share business spreadsheet and database documents.
Small Business Entrepreneurship (Credit: 0.50)Course length: 1 Semester
This course provides an overview on operating a business from start to
finish. It examines the skills needed to effectively organize, develop, create,
and manage a small business, while exposing students to the challenges,
problems, and issues faced by entrepreneurs.
Course Objectives:
- Understand and evaluate the traits needed to become an entrepreneur.
- Identify the ways in which legal rules and regulations and business ethics
affect small businesses.
- Understand and know how to apply economic concepts to business
decisions.
- Understand the record-keeping process needed to make sound business
decisions.
- Analyze markets and identify target markets.

Technology and Business (Credit: 0.50)Course length: 2 Semesters
This course teaches students technical skills, effective communication
skills, and productive work habits needed to make a successful transition
into the work place or postsecondary education. Students will gain an
understanding of emerging technologies, operating systems, and computer
networks. In addition, they create a variety of business documents including
complex word-processing documents, spreadsheets with charts and graphs,
database files, and electronic presentations.
Course Objectives:
- Select the appropriate technology to address business needs.
- Understand operating systems and their business use
- Identify the purpose and style of various business documents.
- Create and use complex word-processing documents, spreadsheets,
databases, and network applications, presentations, telecommunications,
email, and other electronic resources.
- Improve speed and accuracy of keyboarding.
- Identify the information management requirements and business needs of
an organization.
- Use project-management tools and processes to manage a business project
successfully.
